The Punjab government has finalized large-scale preparations for Ramadan 2026, aiming to ensure that no deserving family faces hardship during the holy month. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired a high-level meeting to approve an expanded Ramadan relief strategy backed by a Rs47 billion Nigahban Package, marking one of the largest welfare initiatives in the province’s history.
The plan focuses on food security, direct cash support, price control, and easy access to essentials, with special emphasis on dignity and convenience for beneficiaries.
Rs47 Billion Ramadan Nigahban Package: What’s New in 2026
The newly approved Ramadan relief plan introduces multiple welfare streams under a single coordinated framework. The government has directed all departments to ensure seamless execution before the start of Ramadan.
Key approved initiatives include:
- CM Rashan Card expansion
- Ramadan Nigahban Card distribution
- Nigahban Dastarkhwan (free iftar meals)
- Sahulat Bazaars for subsidized items
- Centralized digital monitoring system
This integrated approach aims to reduce inflation pressure and improve transparency across Punjab.
Ramadan Nigahban Card: Activation & Payment System
To facilitate smooth cash disbursement, the Punjab government has approved the establishment of 136 activation centers across the province. These centers will help beneficiaries activate cards and resolve verification issues.
Major upgrades in 2026:
- Cash transfers made simpler and faster
- Payments routed through an improved Nigahban Dashboard
- Counter-checking system using direct calls to cardholders
- Strong monitoring to prevent duplication or misuse
The Chief Minister directed authorities to make the payment experience “as easy as possible” for all cardholders.
Major Increase in Financial Support for Rashan Card Holders
One of the most significant decisions for Ramadan 2026 is the increase in monthly assistance for Rashan Card holders.
- Previous support: Rs3,000 per month
- Ramadan 2026 support: Rs10,000 per month
This increase is intended to help families manage rising food costs during the holy month without compromising basic needs.
Nigahban Dastarkhwan & Price Control Measures
To further support low-income households, the government approved the establishment of eight “Maryam Kay Mehman” Nigahban Dastarkhwan in every tehsil during Ramadan.
Additionally, strict instructions have been issued to:
- Further reduce food prices
- Strengthen monitoring in Sahulat Bazaars
- Ensure availability of essential items at controlled rates
